Sara, a successful writer, has lost her only child, divorced, and retired to her ex-husband's house. She rents her basement to a Yugoslavian refugee who brings an entire Gypsy orchestra. One day, Sara's ex-husband unexpectedly arrives, and the following day is found in the basement, shot.
